The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in Dubai, in cooperation with the Arabian Media Network, announced the launch of a new initiative titled “I’m Electronic,” aimed at raising awareness about e-government services, promoting the principles of a knowledge-based society, and highlighting the achievements of government entities in this field.
The announcement was made on the sidelines of GITEX Technology Week, which continued until the 18th of the month, during a press conference held at the TRA platform. The initiative and its details were presented in the presence of Mohammed Nasser Al Ghanim, Director-General of the TRA, and media personality Mustafa Salameh, CEO of the Arabian Media Network.
The Director-General of the TRA welcomed the initiative, describing it as a key part of the UAE’s strategy to promote and raise awareness of e-government services.
Salem Khamis Al Shair Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director-General of the TRA, stated that governments worldwide are working toward improving service structures to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and enhance transparency and accountability. He added that while Middle Eastern countries share similar goals, what sets the UAE apart is its rapid technological advancement, which allows citizens to access a wide range of integrated government services through a central platform. He explained that the “I’m Electronic” initiative was designed to help introduce the public to these capabilities.
For his part, Mustafa Salameh stated that the network is committed to achieving the ambitious goals of UAE Vision 2021, noting that the UAE government has taken significant steps to enhance access to its services online.
He added that this initiative helps empower citizens by improving government efficiency and that the related TV program will guide audiences across GCC countries step by step on how to benefit from e-government services and understand their advantages.
He also mentioned that the program would officially launch in January of the following year and would be broadcast on 15 Arab satellite channels. He noted that this was not the network’s first achievement, as it had previously entered the Guinness World Records by broadcasting a single program across 70 Arab channels.
It is worth noting that the “I’m Electronic” initiative was officially announced during a press conference held alongside the GITEX Technology Week 2012.
