Dr. Mustafa Salameh, Secretary-General of the General Union of Arab Producers, stated that honoring UAE media and its institutions came in appreciation of the UAE’s stance toward the situation in Egypt, reflecting the strong brotherhood and close ties between the Egyptian and Emirati people.
He added that this recognition also highlights the major efforts of UAE media in supporting Arab issues and its credibility in covering events, as well as the significant development of the UAE’s media sector and its impact both locally and globally on Arab audiences.
Salameh also noted that, as part of its role in supporting media across the Arab world, the Union decided to award Dr. Jamal Al Suwaidi the “Knight of Arab Studies” award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Arab thought. His work includes influential research and publications, most notably his books “Horizons of the American Era” and “The Mirage,” which examine modern political thought and extremist ideologies.
It is worth mentioning that the Union honored several leading UAE media institutions, including Abu Dhabi Media, Dubai Media Incorporated, Sharjah Media Corporation, the National Media Council, twofour54 Abu Dhabi, Dubai Media City, and the Arab Radio Network. A number of prominent Emirati media figures were also honored, including Dr. Ali Al Shaeibi, Issa Al Mail, and Ali Al Shamsi.
The event was attended by a large group of Egyptian artists and public figures, including Ezzat Al Alayli, Ahmed Badir, Safia El Emary, Soheir El Bably, Sherine, Ehab Tawfik, Manal Salama, Tarek Lotfy, Ferdous Abdel Hamid, Lekaa El Khamissi, and media personality Bossi Shalaby.
The Union also honored Dr. Jamal Al Suwaidi with a special one-time award, “Knight of Arab Studies,” during the ceremony held at the Opera House of Misr University for Science and Technology in 6th of October City. The event was organized under the theme “Thank You UAE” and attended by Egypt’s Minister of Culture Dr. Gaber Asfour (on behalf of the Prime Minister Eng. Ibrahim Mahlab), Minister Dr. Maitha Al Shamsi, along with many leading Egyptian artists and prominent UAE media figures.
